Injured At A Casino Or Hotel Concert Or Show

While it is not the first thing most people think of when attending a concert or sporting event, the business behind that show has a responsibility towards the safety of the attendees.

It does not matter if the place is a hotel or a casino, those managing these places have to take the necessary precautions to protect their customers.

Fortunately, most business owners or operators in California take into consideration that public safety is paramount.

However, there are still companies whose main concern is profit, even though it means endangering the safety of their customers.

Common Injuries Suffered At a Show / Concert

Accidents at concerts can change your entertainment plans from one moment to another and it is best to take preventive measures.

That’s why we present some of the 5 most common injuries in concerts:

1) Cuts: Whether by the closure of a jacket or some accessory of the person around you, when dancing, jumping, etc. you can get cut by objects.

2) Fainting: Surely one of your friends has happened to see someone fainting when seeing their favorite artist, and in many cases it is not to draw attention.

3) Asphyxiating: It is so much the furor of being in the front row in some concert that the last thing people expect is to be crushed by the crowd.

4) Alcohol Poisoning: From so much alcohol, this can cause accidents and other injuries.

5) Dehydrating: If there is not enough water, soda, or some other liquid, and you are very thirsty, you can have this mishap. It is responsibility of the show managers to provide hydration in the nearby areas.

6) Broken bones: falling or being knocked over among 5,000 people can easily cause somebody to break a bone.

7) Head injuries: all to often concert goers are pushed or shoved and end up suffering from a head injury

Famous Incident Where Somebody Got Hurt At a Las Vegas Show

British rocker Rod Stewart was sued by a man who claims to have been injured by a soccer ball thrown by the musician at a concert in Las Vegas in 2012.

A civil lawsuit filed in Las Vegas by Mostafa Kashe claims that Stewart, 69, who at the beginning of his career had a reputation for being a good football player, has a “significant experience” in the sport, therefore he should have known he could hurt someone with a ball thrown to the public.

Kashe was unexpectedly hit by the ball Stewart threw during a concert at Caesar’s Palace in October 2012.

Kashe says he suffered lasting physical and mental damage from the blow he suffered on the face when the ball fractured his nose.

The lawsuit claims that the man from Southern California had to miss work and shorten his family vacation in Las Vegas because of the injury.

Common Causes For Injuries

Because of something called “premises liability” individuals or businesses may be legally responsible for certain injuries or accidents that occur on their property.

The following are just some types of negligent actions (or downright lack of actions) by owners, promoters, or event organizers:

  • Inappropriate or negligent hiring practices, such as not being able to do a background check on someone who works with children
  • Inadequate supervision, such as not providing lifeguards in a public swimming pool
  • Inadequate or insufficient security, such as not hiring security guards trained in a place such as a stadium or a nightclub
  • Overcrowding, as exceeding the capacity of a place
  • Inadequate emergency safety, such as blocking emergency exits

What To Do If Injured During a Concert

  1. Keep calm: Nerves can play tricks on you. Therefore, it is best to take a few seconds to regain your composure and avoid aggression, which can create tension or even violence.
  2. Check that there are no injuries: Make sure that you and the rest of the concert attendees are in good health. If anyone was injured, call the hotel management immediately.
  3. Do your best to gather as much evidence as possible at the scene of your accident: This will include, first of all, taking photos. Most people have a camera on their smartphone these days, so use that camera to capture key information like the condition of the concert, the object that impacted you or caused your injury, etc.
  4. Gather all contact information from any witnesses of your injuries.
  5. Contact Avrek Law to protect your legal rights.

what is my settlement worth

What Could My Accident Claim Be Worth?

It is important for a personal injury victim to understand that their personal injury claim is valid before arriving to an agreement with the insurance company or litigation.

A good understanding of the compensation amount to which they are legally entitled allows a victim to recognize the offer of a valid settlement and to effectively weigh the costs and benefits of litigation.

If you have suffered any of the following expenses resulting from your personal injury, then you may be entitled to compensation:

  • Medical costs: All of your medical costs that were not covered by insurance may be compensable. For example, this includes hospital bills, surgeries, doctor visits, nursing care, and prescription drug costs.
  • Rehabilitation costs: Continuous rehabilitation costs such as sanatorium care, physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, and other rehabilitation costs.
  • Personal out-of-pocket expenses: If you spend on child care, cleaning aids, drivers, or other support personnel that you did not need prior to your injuries, then these expenses are generally considered. Projected personal expenses may also be compensable.
  • Loss of income: Loss of income due to being out of work, projected time off work, reduced hours or reduced income due to a change in the profession caused by your injuries, are compensable.
  • Pain and suffering: You may be entitled to compensation for pain and suffering related to your injuries. Loss of experiences such as inability to attend school, social events, and vacations, may also give you the right to compensation. Physical pain and suffering incurred in due to physical disabilities or disfigurement, may also be reimbursable.
